When a potential client asks if they are able to update content on their website they are usually hesitant to spend on a full content management system.  The difference between a website that is coded and updated only by a webmaster, and a website where any person can login and make changes is usually upwards of $1000.
Very frequently the only part of a website that needs to be updated regularly is a news, resources, events, or specials page.  That it where a website called pagelime.com has been extremely useful.  They allow you specify any block of code to be controlled by a content management system.  Watch their how-to-video for more details, but they have made it very easy (and free) to allow my clients to control a specials, news, or events page on their own.  Thanks PageLime.
